My Story

In 2023, I hung up my firefighting helmet for the last time. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made.

​

I didn't resign because I wanted to… but because my former fire chief told me I wasn’t “leadership material.”

My whole life, people have underestimated me. I am a woman who has fought through a lifetime of dyslexia and ADHD.

From a young age, I had people telling me I wasn’t smart enough.

​

But here’s the thing about me:

Every time someone says I can’t… F*cking Watch me!.

So I hung up my yellow helmet and closed my Fire and Emergency chapter. And I stepped straight into a different kind of fire — the one burning inside my soul.

​

Back then, my husband's construction business was stretched thin. He was overworked, and the company was running at a loss. As parents, we were barely holding it together.

​

I've had to push through the "You can't run a construction company; you know nothing about construction" culture within our own business. I battled the "old boys club" attitudes, slowly built trust within our leaders to reshape our systems, rebuilt the team’s mindset, and proved that structure and humanity can exist together.

​

And somewhere along the journey, something unexpected happened. I found my passion.

I went from being “Dan's wife” to the "Real Boss." I became the person other business owners call just to bounce ideas around. The person they trust to help them shift direction, reset their mindset, rebuild momentum, and see what they can’t see themselves.

​

I never set out to be that person. I just refused to accept that because things had always been done one way, they had to stay that way.

​

And maybe that’s the real story here:

A girl who once needed a reader–writer for her exams, is now rewriting the way people think, lead, and run their companies.

​

And I’m only just getting started.

Working hard had gotten me through life… but working smarter changed it.

And somewhere in the middle of all the chaos — between fixing processes, rebuilding teams, installing structure, and refusing to settle for “this is how we’ve always done it”...

​

I realized I love this work. I love helping people succeed. I love finding pain points no one else can see. I love mentoring owners who are stuck or overwhelmed. I love showing people that just because something has always been one way doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.

​

And here’s something important about me:

I am so open-minded to thinking outside the box that it scares some people around me. But innovation has always lived at the edge of discomfort.

​

This is also where I found my own solution. I was doing everything alone until I hired Joyce as my assistant. She quickly became the operational and financial manager I didn't know I desperately needed—my true right-hand.

And that is why "Find a Joyce" is so incredibly important to me.

​

Because I know there are founders, leaders, entrepreneurs, and business owners out there who are doing everything alone… and they don’t need to be.

​

I know there are people who could become truly unstoppable if they just had the right support behind them. Someone to keep them accountable, organised, on track, and focused on what actually moves the business forward.

​

My Joyce has been by my side for a year now. And in that one year, I turned around one financially stressed-out company… and built three more companies.

​

That doesn't happen alone.

That requires a right hand who builds a team around you. A team that trusts you. A team you trust back. Trust doesn’t happen overnight — it’s earned, slowly, consistently, with integrity.

​

And finding your right hand will be the most important business decision you will ever make.

This company exists because I’ve lived through the overwhelm. I’ve lived in the “doing everything myself” season. And I’ve lived the transformation that happens when you finally get the support you need.
